Commercial real estate continues to be a focus of financial firms and the agencies that regulate them. It is a source of tremendous profits and, unfortunately, tremendous risk. Many banks claimed oversight of their commercial real estate platform prior to the last recession, but that perceived oversight did not prevent the industry from incurring huge CRE losses. With the benefit of hindsight along with new technology and better risk management techniques, firms can develop their own first-level CRE governance program. This session will explain how.
